Nippersink School District Political Action Information Nippersink School District 2 was formed in March 2000. Former Spring Grove District 11 and former Richmond Consolidated School District 13 served as the foundation for the newly combined district. Each of the former districts was acknowledged as providing superior educational programs to students and families. School District's 11, 13, and Nippersink 2 have each received the national Bright Star award for implementing exceptional scores on standardized tests with per pupil expenditures under the state average. It is with the collective dedication of its staff, administration and school board, that Nippersink School District 2 continues to provide excellent educational programs at a competitive dollar value. The Nippersink 2002 state report card demonstrates that our district spends more money on instruction than the state average. The District spends less for administration than the state average, more for support services than the state average, and less on "other" services than the state average. Our per pupil operating expenses are $1,300/child less than the state average of $7,926. The Nippersink School District 2 equalized assessed valuation (EAV) is located at the mid point when compared to other McHenry County elementary school districts and the tax rate is also located at the midpoint compared to other elementary school districts in our county. Despite the Nippersink Board of Education reducing expenditures by more than $600,000 for the 03-04 school year, D2 will continue to run deficits in its education fund. With the consideration of $1 million in additional cuts for the 04-05 school year, we will likely experience administrator cuts, increased class sizes, and program cuts that would not be prudent in a school district that prides itself on a history of quality education for every child. Nippersink School District 2 needs additional state aid support and less reliance on property taxes. The current, regressive property tax system is not the best way to achieve equity and adequacy across the state. It is important that we, as a community, inform our legislators of our position and request action. We invite you to join us.
